Our Team

Miss Alexis, Director/Teacher
Alexis Matthews-Cheney is excited for a school year filled with adventure and endless learning opportunities. Alexis brings many years of experience teaching children of all ages combined with an associate's degree from NHTI and continued professional development through Antioch University New England. Alexis is passionate about creating hands-on learning opportunities. Finding what interests a child and sparking their curiosity creates joy and excitement for her as a teacher.

She grew up in Boscawen, and was blessed to experience all of the beauty New Hampshire has to offer. At a young age skiing, hiking, gardening, and cooking were instilled in Alexis. Now as a mother and wife she enjoys coaching, volunteering, cooking, spending time with her family, and passing on the joy of discovering New Hampshire’s great outdoors to her daughter.

Miss Erin, Teacher
Erin Meeh grew up in Defiance, Ohio, and attended college at Wright State University. Prior to her last semester of school she came to New Hampshire for the summer to be a nanny and fell in love (literally!).

Erin graduated with her Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education and quickly returned to New Hampshire to be with her now husband, Daimon and her 3 children. She enjoys traveling, spending time at the lake or the beach, and spending time with her family (both in NH and Ohio).

Miss Rhianna, Teacher
Rhianna DeCosta is excited to join the Dewey team, as a recent graduate from NHTI, she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience of early learning. She embraces the Dewey values that support curiosity, creativity, and connection as a community. Her passion for learning alongside the children as she provides tools to strengthen their growth and development academically and socially shines through.

Growing up in New Hampshire she enjoyed riding horses and enjoying time in nature. She has a love for adventure and embraces trying new things even if they are out of her comfort zone. A quality she hopes to instill in the Dewey children.

Miss Annie, Teacher/Atelierista
Annie Bell has attended art and early childhood education classes at both Montserrat College of Art and NHTI. She gained invaluable experience in child development and literacy during her years of service with AmeriCorps and its New Hampshire Reads program.
Over the last decade Annie has been a teacher at a Montessori school, inspired children at a local extended day program, and provided childcare in her home all the while regularly attending continuing education courses in both art and early childhood education.
Annie teaches group and private art lessons to both children and adults. She is so excited to be part of The Dewey School team and to help nurture children’s unique interests through process based art, play, and exploration. In a Mary Poppins sort of way, she is unflappable!

Miss Bri, Teacher/Atelierista
Brianna Demers is honored to be a part of this beautiful nature-based learning community. She was born and raised right here in New Hampshire. After spending a decade as an adult educator in the corporate world, she felt a deep calling toward something more meaningful and heart-centered. That call led her to step into the world of early education. Here at the Dewey School is where she began nurturing young minds and spirits. She believes that when we connect with the earth, each other, and our own inner wisdom, real learning -and transformation -can happen.
In addition to teaching, in February of 2025 she assisted with the opening of a holistic metaphysical spa and retail store, right in Manchester, NH where she offers Reiki sessions and hosts workshops centered on healing, self-expression, and spiritual exploration. Whether she's in the woods with students or holding space in a workshop, her purpose remains the same: to help others feel seen, supported, and empowered to grow into their fullest selves.
Miss. Bri is excited to walk alongside your children on this journey of discovery, wonder and wholeness.
